Billy is a professional Freelance News and Documentary Photographer in Nairobi, Kenya, creating compelling images that articulate stories in-depth, drive change and write history.

He has covered high-demanding photography assignments among them terror attacks in Nairobi, as well as travelled to Kenya’s Northern region and to Kismayu, Somalia to document Al Shabaab terror cell activities.

Among breaking news, disasters and civil protests assignments, Billy has covered peace mission in Moyale, Kenya-Ethiopia’s boarder town as well as covered court proceedings at the Hague-based International Criminal Court in the Netherlands.

He documents photography projects bracing to tell the ‘African Narrative’ captured in #AfricanStoryfromKenya tag. From a first-hand capacity and knowledge, Billy creates distinct photography work that innately showcases Africa’s History and Environment, Socio-Economic and the Geo-Politics.       

Billy holds a Bachelors Degree in Communication and Media (Egerton University), M.A, Development Communication (University of Nairobi – Finalist)

He has in the past worked as a News Photographer at Nation Media Group publishing Daily Nation, The East African, Taifa Leo, Business Daily newspapers and Equally has been News and Features writer at Kenya Times and The People Newspapers.

He is a GAMI Photographer of the Year, holds an NMG Commendation Award and an Honorary in the CRBC Photo Project. 

He has in the past been commissioned for photography assignments by several news, magazines and online publishers, business establishments, institutions and development organisations among them Tullow Oil, Israel Embassy in Nairobi, AfricaPractice, US-based and among others.

Elderly Funds - Biometric Registration An ongoing biometric registration spearheaded by Ministry of Labour to allow the elderly receive monthly funds of Ksh. 2,000 each set aside by government to support citizens in their old age. Among them is Veronicah Ndinda Muasya, 85, Mwala resident in Machakos County. Biometric registration allows beneficiaries to access the funds through their bank accounts.
