As an Urdu speaker with a degree in Arabic, I am particularly drawn to Pakistan and the Middle East. My specialist knowledge of Islamic, Arab and South Asian cultures has given me unique first-hand access to local news sources. My most recent work has been for CCTV News as their Islamabad correspondent. My focus has been the ongoing Taliban insurgency, the US-led drone strike programme in Waziristan and the rising insecurity in the country. My work has taken me everywhere from the flood plains of southern Pakistan to interviewing global leaders in the capital to reporting on Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad. I have interviewed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Pervez Musharraf. Prior to CCTV News, I spent several years in Pakistan as a video journalist for the Associated Press and also freelanced as a producer, fixer, translator, video journalist and reporter for Vice News, BBC, APTN, Fox, Al Jazeera, Daily Telegraph, Radio France and many others.
