Noor is a former Reuter’s photographer/editor based in Nairobi, with a docket that covers 16 countries in East, Central and Horn of Africa regions. Operating in this region has provided him with the opportunity to cover hard news events from the late eighties hence allowing him the opportunity to cover the influx of Ethiopian refugees in the early nineties from one of the world’s worst ever documented famine in the continent. He also covered the 1998 terrorist attack at the American Embassy, the Westgate terrorist attack in September of 2013 and the Garisa University attack by gunmen on, April of 2015. In his over 30 years he has activly covered Political events aroung the region. I have documentary work for various organisations, namely the European Union, World Bank, UNDP, AMISOM, UN-IRIN, and African Wildlife Foundation (AWF). Noor is a graduate from the New York Institute of Photography; he has also attended advance training at the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale USA and took time to work alongside photographers at the Chicago Tribune where he was based.. Noor has also worked in various media organisations notably, photo-editor at the People Weekly Newspaper, editor at the Standard Newspapers, photo-editor with the United Nations “IRIN” and Reuters News Agency in Nairobi doubling up as Photographer and regional editor.
