I am a full time Senior Reporter with The Star newspaper in Nairobi-Kenya, on part-time serving International News Service as a correspondent covering Somalia based in Nairobi. At INS cover speciality business-to-business publications covering sectors – such as the automotive, extractive industry commercial crimes, livestock, education, agriculture, accounting business and textiles among other sector. I also cover security and politics. Earlier I worked for Sabahi online was a US-Africa Command funded website that covered Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Djibouti but with a major focus on Somalia until its closure in February 2015. I did beats on regional politics, stability, security, business, diplomacy, interfaith dialogue, public policy, health, education, human rights and environment. I wrote analysis as well expert reports on various topical issues touching on good governance, rule of law, politics, terrorism, education, maternal health and child mortality. Previously I worked at The Standard newspaper as an investigative, business and features writer where I was instrumental in their weekly business pullout-The Financial Journal. As a business writer at The Standard, I covered stories, on East African Community integration issues, tax regimes, tourism, conservation, agriculture, health, population, transport and other economic programs. The experience has made me have a seasoned nose to tell a good story. I have wide network of contacts of both local and regional sources and experts in, politics, business security, conservation, governments, education, health, religious and other sectors. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Communications and Public Relations from Moi University, and just concluded my coursework for Master’s of Art degree in International Relations at the University of Nairobi now writing my thesis. I can take on any stories in the region, as well serve as a fixer.
