Argentine Scientist went to a TV show to raise money for her cancer research

Buenos Aires, Argentina Science & Environment May 13 @ 3:59am

Conicet (Argentine Science and Technology Council) researcher Marina Simian won $ 500.000 at TV Show “Who wants to be a Millionaire” and will use the prize to finance her Cancer research. By doing so, she sparked a national debate about the crisis of Science.
Argentina used to have a strong educational and scientific system (with three Science Nobel Prizes), that is now collapsing. Science Budget dropped form 0.7 % GDP in 2014 to 0.5 % of GDP in 2018.
Researchers complain about delay in payments, and many of them are migrating, as it happened during the last big economic crisis in 2001-02.
