Africa's most industrialised economy overburdened

Pretoria, South Africa Current Affairs June 1 @ 8:38pm

The latest stats reveal that South Africa's unemployment rate stands at 32%. The stats also show that 3 million South Africans have given up looking for work. We tell the story through the life of a young man in his early 30s who was laid off when the economy went into recession and could never get a job ever since. South Africa is hosting millions of migrants who are here for economic opportunities and if this South Africa man were to venture into business, he'd not survive the fiercely competitive informal economy. If he found work today, he'd not afford transport fare from the township to industrialised areas or town because government corruption has helped kill the once-thriving rail industry. A common mode of transport for the working class. All the odds are against poor people.
