Proposed Budget Cuts Giving You Cancer? Doctors in Rural Senegal Share Their Findings

The World Cancer Research Fund ranks Africa as home to the most cervical cancer cases in the world. Despite being highly preventable, cervical cancer in Senegal ranks 15th in the world. To combat the disease, one doctor and his team have gone to southern Senegal to provide rural communities their first ever cervical cancer screening project. The only factor standing in the way of years of research, partnerships and cancer-free women is the looming United States 2018 budgetary cuts which will eliminate the Fogerty International Health Center funding on which the project is supported; leaving volunteers and health workers asking, "What next?"
