Tourism in Ibiza and postcovid discotheque

Ibiza, Spain Breaking News, Travel June 1 @ 3:21pm

My name is Santi Donaire, freelance photojournalist, currently based in Ibiza.

With the expected opening for British citizens in early June, exclusively in the Balearic Islands, and Ibiza being a world-renowned destination for leisure and nightlife, large hotel establishments and nightclubs are rushing preparations for a season marked by vaccination and new anti-vaccination measures. After more than a year of closure due to the pandemic, the famous nightclubs are preparing for a reopening that aims to recover the normality of previous years.

In addition, other structural problems of the island remain, such as the high rental prices, which make it impossible for many workers in the tourism sector to access decent housing. For this reason, there is already a proliferation of caravan settlements around the capital of Ibiza, where dozens of Spanish and foreign workers are living badly while working in the hospitality or construction sector.
