Why do a running tour of a South African township?

Cape Town, South Africa Cultural October 11 @ 6:57pm

"Sight running” tours are growing in major cities across the world, but in Cape Town one local now leads the tours of his township to international tourists in a bid to change negative perceptions of the country. Vinnie was just 12 when his father was murdered. His unemployed mother raised him in the township, where other grim events have taken place during apartheid and since its end. Yet today a basketball court in the township has been named in honour of him for his youth work and features on the tours. They also highlight South Africa's reconciliation efforts, the area's vibrant salons, and a country-wide famous butchery, as I discovered on a run.
