L'Ecole des Sables, the school of contemporary dance of Senegal is in danger

Dakar, Senegal Cultural March 7 @ 4:50pm

For twenty years, L'Ecole des sables in Toubab Dialaw - founded by Germaine Accogny, who is called the "mother of African contemporary dance" - has organized professional training workshops gathering dancers and choreographers from Africa, the African diaspora and all over the world. More than 500 dancers from 26 African countries have already benefited from a training there.

From the 22th of April until the 28th of June, the school host a new training session of three months for 23 African students.

But let's hope this is not the last one, because, despite of its excellent reputation, the school is endangered and could close if it doesn't find funding.
