Early life

Peer Viqar Ul Aslam was born in Srinagar. He did his schooling from Walden High School, and later completed his Bachelors in Computer Application from Amar Singh College and Masters in Journalism Read morefrom Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir.

Career

Peer Viqar Ul Aslam started working with International news tabloid Morocco World News in 2014, He also reported for The Rising Kashmir and various dailies in Jammu and Kashmir.

As a Political Analyst, he often appears on India Today, Republic, Times Now, Zee India, NewsX, India News, and other TV channels.

Assault

While covering 2017 parliamentary elections in Budgam, Kashmir, Peer Viqar Ul Aslam was held on gun point by a Special Operational Group officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police, and in an attempt to flee from the spot was badly wounded by stones pelted at the government forces in the area.

Activism

In 2016, soon after the killing Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani, hundreds of youth in Indian administered Kashmir were hit by pellets fired by government forces.

In response to the serious on-ground situation, Peer Viqar Ul Aslam founded Save the Eyes Foundation and reached to hundreds of victims blinded by pellets, providing medical assistance.

Human Rights and Relief Foundation

Peer Viqar Ul Aslam founded HRRF – Human Rights and Relief Foundation in 2019, an organization reporting Human Rights violations in Indian Administered Kashmir. The organization has hundreds of volunteers.

Detention

In 2020, Peer Viqar Ul Aslam was summoned by an infamous wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
