I won the Botswana Business Reporter of the Year Award in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and specialise in capital and debt markets, macro-economy and its various sub-sectors, mining, energy and tourism, medium and micro enterprises as well as rural economy, trade, agriculture and climate change. A member of the inaugural team at the state broadcaster Botswana Television, Mr Richardson became a successive recipient of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Botswana) News Reader of the year Award (2002, 2006 and 2007). In 2007 he became a finalist of the CNN Africa Journalist of the Year at the same time he joined South Africa’s private television station, eTV (2007 to 2010).
In 2011 Mr Richardson joined Gabzfm’s breakfast show going on to win numerous awards including MISA Botswana’s Best Current Affairs Show (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014), Best Reporter on Population and Development Issues and Best Reporter on Education.
Richardson initiated, organised and moderated the Gabzfm Elections 2014 parliamentary and presidential debates, the first ever successful national election debates in Botswana. He is now working as a freelancer and he is founder of startup El Negro Productions, a video production event management and talent agency.
