A multilayer perceptron neural network is employed to model the relationship between microplastic concentration and satellite sensor data. The study finds that while direct estimation of microplastics via satellite sensors is challenging due to low abundance and detection limitations, using suspended sediment concentration as a proxy provides a promising alternative, especially during flood conditions. The research contributes to the understanding of microplastic transport in rivers and offers a cost-effective monitoring tool to assist in environmental management.
