90 kidnapped pupils freed in northern Nigeria after three months
Ninety children who were held captive for three months in northern Nigeria have been freed and are awaiting reunion with their families. One child died during the ordeal, and four are receiving medical treatment. The children were abducted from the Salihu Tanko Islamic School in Niger state by gunmen. Despite efforts to raise ransoms, over 1,000 students have been kidnapped this year, with at least 200 still in captivity. The Nigerian government has struggled to prevent these abductions, leading to school closures. A separate group of 15 students from the College of Agriculture and Animal Science in Zamfara state was also released recently.

Ninety students who were kidnapped from the Salihu Tanko Islamic School in Niger State, Nigeria, have been released after three months. The children, including girls as young as five, were greeted by Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello upon their arrival in Minna. The headteacher, Abubakar Garba Alhassan, did not disclose the details of their release, but it is known that parents have been raising ransoms demanded by the abductors. Over 1,000 students have been kidnapped in Nigeria this year, with at least 200 still in captivity. The Nigerian government's inability to stop these abductions has led to the closure of many schools due to the risk.
