The European Meteor missiles, with a striking capability of nearly 150 km, are expected to be game changers. Historically, the Indian Air Force had superiority over Pakistan until the latter acquired AIM120-C5 missiles. The Meteor missiles, not part of the original Rafale deal, were included upon Modi's emergency procurement decision. India plans to integrate these missiles with Russian Su-30 combat planes. The Indian Air Force has contracted 36 Rafale planes, expected to arrive by early 2019, with deployment plans on both China and Pakistan fronts.
