Alex Raufoglu is an Azerbaijani-American journalist who focuses on Eurasia. Born in Baku, Raufoglu holds an MA in Interactive Journalism from American University, Washington D.C., and a BA in Journalism from Ege University, Izmir. He worked extensively in the South Caucasus and Black Sea regions (Baku, Ankara, Tbilisi) for several international broadcast outlets; prepared features, audio/video stories covering democracy, media, and other freedoms, as well as regional peace and security. Since 2008, Raufoglu has lived in the U.S. where he worked as a journalist for several media outlets.

As the U.S. under a second Trump administration rolls out its ‘America First’ foreign policy, President Zourabichvili, who represented Georgian people at the inauguration of Donald Trump, says she picked up on the new American leadership's vow to make their country stronger. But if America wants to be first and strong, she says, it cannot be humiliated in a small country in the Caucasus — "by one man who is dictating his policy and serving the interests of Vladimir Putin" she said of Georgian tycoon Bidzina Ivanishvili, who's been sanctioned by the U.S. for undermining democracy and allowing Russia to benefit.
