About Amira
Having started gathering experience at fashion magazines from the age of fifteen, Amira has always had both a passion for writing and the publishing industry. Internships at GQ Style and River Island, both styling, writing and discussing strategies fuelled this interest. The last year was spent working at WIRED and GQ magazines, part of The Conde Nast Publications, as her experience was branched out. Editing the retail page of WIRED UK and also writing online, her love for writing and both her writing about design, innovation etc., as well as her skill set, developed. This, combined with working on WIRED and GQ events, led to a strong network of PR and brand contacts, which she maintains today. In addition to this role, she was also Advertising Assistant for both WIRED and GQ, becoming very familiar with editorial credits for brands and how the editorial and commercial teams of a magazine liaised with one another.

Since leaving WIRED and GQ in April 2018, Amira has embarked upon a freelance venture, writing for publications such as Stylist magazine, Refinery29 and Fashion Beans. She also writes for HERO, Oracle of Time and Discovery. Amira is always looking to expand her repertoire and believes she has both the skills and passion to add to your team, should you need a freelance journalist. Focusing on writing about fashion and lifestyle, Amira is qualified and experienced in writing about fashion, beauty, technology, food, drink, travel, amongst other topics. She is also confident in interviewing high-profile individuals, having spoken with Vivienne Westwood, Poppy Jamie and the co-founders of Revolve.

This is how many steps people actually walk a day — and it's way less than you think

25 Sep 2024  |  Metro
A recent study by PureGym reveals that the average global step count is significantly lower than the widely recommended 10,000 steps per day, with Brits averaging 5,951 steps and the global average at 5,833. The study highlights that no country meets the 10,000-step benchmark, with Denmark leading at 6,633 steps. Experts Claire Phippen and Leah Bygraves-Paul from PureGym emphasize that while step counts are a useful fitness metric, they are not the sole indicator of health, and individuals should focus on consistent physical activity that suits their lifestyle. The 10,000-step goal originated from a marketing campaign for a pedometer, not medical advice.

Doctors say this spicy technique really can ease your menopause symptoms

24 Sep 2024  |  Metro
Menopause symptoms such as low mood, brain fog, and hot flushes affect many women, yet less than 15% receive effective treatment. While traditional methods like HRT and CBT are common, a recent survey highlights masturbation as an effective yet under-discussed method for symptom relief. Sexual health nurse Sarah Mulindwa explains that endorphin release during orgasm can improve sleep, reduce stress, and enhance libido, while also strengthening pelvic floor muscles. Despite its benefits, cultural stigmas and healthcare provider discomfort contribute to the lack of open discussion about masturbation as a treatment option.
