Roberto De Simone: Memories and More by Augusto De Luca

17 Feb 2022  |  expartibus.it
Augusto De Luca recounts his meeting with Roberto De Simone, a renowned theatrical director, composer, and musicologist from Naples, known for his work in preserving and promoting the region's cultural, theatrical, and musical heritage. De Simone has taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli, served as the artistic director of Teatro San Carlo, and directed the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella. He has been honored with various accolades, including the Accademico di Santa Cecilia and the Cavalierato delle Arti. During their meeting at Teatro San Carlo, De Luca photographed De Simone, capturing images that pleased both of them, and reflected on De Simone's humble beginnings and significant contributions to Neapolitan tradition.

Open Research Exhibition: memories and more by Augusto De Luca

03 Feb 2022  |  expartibus.it
Augusto De Luca reminisces about an exhibition he held in the early 80s at the Ricerca Aperta gallery in Naples, which was a hub for photographic culture. He unexpectedly found photos of the event and recalls the unique work in progress show he organized. With the help of artist Lucia Gangheri and assistants like Bruno Cristillo, De Luca filled the gallery with Polaroid portraits of visitors during the opening night. He used two cameras, a Polaroid LAND 1000 and a rare Polaroid BIG SHOT, similar to one used by Andy Warhol. The exhibition was a success, and De Luca expresses a desire to repeat the experience, despite the current scarcity and quality of Polaroid materials.
