15 May 2023  |  jornaldaorla.com.br
The Controladoria-Geral da União (CGU) released an audit report on the Auxílio Brasil program, which replaced Bolsa Família during Jair Bolsonaro's government between 2021 and 2022. The audit found that 468,000 families outside the income profile received benefits, totaling about BRL 2.18 billion in improper payments. Additionally, control failures may have led to BRL 1.71 billion in undue payments to an average of 367,000 families per month. The social program has been renamed Bolsa Família, with a minimum payment of BRL 600 guaranteed. The CGU's audit concluded the migration process was adequate without harm to beneficiaries or public funds and made nine recommendations to the Ministry of Development to prevent future ineligible benefit allocations.
