Traditional clothing, festive rituals, and handicrafts such as yarn spinning and tapestry weaving on archaic looms are part of their daily life. Sisters Martina and Luz Maria Masaquiza Sailema exemplify the traditional roles of women in Salasaca, as they gather kikuyo grass for their animals, a task designated for women in their community.

Agnes Cheptepkeny, a resident of Marigat in Kenya's Baringo County, uses honey as a form of savings and income. Despite Kenya not being widely known for honey production compared to Ethiopia and Tanzania, local beekeeping thrives due to the favorable natural landscape. However, challenges such as lack of business knowledge, diminishing interest from younger generations, parasites, pesticides, climate change, and underdeveloped infrastructure hinder the growth and export potential of the honey industry.

Berta Tilmantaitė, a freelance photographer and journalist, captures the lives of oceanic communities and seaweed gatherers in her award-winning work. Her photo reports from Malaysia and Peru highlight the traditional lifestyles and challenges faced by the Bajau Laut, a nomadic sea tribe, and the seaweed gatherers of Pacasmayo. The Bajau Laut, known for their exceptional free-diving skills, struggle with modern challenges such as declining fish populations and piracy. In Peru, seaweed gatherers rely on the ocean for sustenance and income, despite harsh working conditions. Tilmantaitė's work emphasizes the deep connection between these communities and their natural environments.
