The study found a higher incidence of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) after pancreatoduodenectomy compared to Dutch Pancreatic Cancer Audit benchmarks, attributed to the pancreatic morphology of screen-detected lesions. The findings highlight the challenge of balancing early surgical intervention for potentially malignant lesions against the increased risk of POPF.
