Before Abuja was made the Capital city of Nigeria, there were some Indigenous people living in the place, but the government came up with a land use laws that divested them the right to ownership of lands, without a commensurate compensation .The government succeded because the people were poorly educated then, but now that some of their children are becoming more enlightened, they have been agitating for a reversal of some of the laws, especially those that make the authorities come at will, demolish their homes and reallocate same land to others for residential purposes. The indigenous people see such actions as injustice that must get global attention, and have always protested against such injustice. It was in one of such protests that I ran into get and decided to get this story.
