Econet to acquire 6 EcoCash’s fintech firms

The assets include EcoCash, VAYA Technologies, Econet Insurance, Econet Life, MARS Zimbabwe, and Maisha Health Fund. This acquisition, in exchange for Econet shares, aims to consolidate EWZL's financial technology business. Despite the acquisition, neither company will be delisted. EWZL's market capitalization has seen significant fluctuations due to local currency depreciation but has recently increased by nearly 86% since the beginning of the year.
Family basket doubles to ZWL$6,2m
The family basket in Zimbabwe has nearly doubled to ZWL$6.2 million due to the continued depreciation of the Zimdollar, causing significant financial strain on families. Civil servants are demanding salary reviews, and the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe attributes the price increase to a 61.5% depreciation of the local currency in January.
