European Embassies Issue Warning on Terrorist Attack Threat in Kenya

European embassies from France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK have issued warnings to their citizens about a potential terrorist attack in Nairobi, advising avoidance of entertainment spots and crowds. The UK specifically warned against non-essential travel to certain areas. Kenyan Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso assured enhanced patrols, and President Uhuru Kenyatta met with police commanders and county commissioners to discuss national security. Earlier in the week, Interior Security Minister Fred Matiang'i discussed the threat of Al-Shabaab, following an attack in Lamu where five officials, including a mobile court magistrate, were targeted by the group. This year, Al-Shabaab attacks have resulted in approximately 15 deaths, with 10 suspects detained.
