Dana Studebaker of Apple Leisure Group and Erica Doyne of AMResorts highlighted the lasting memories and self-discovery benefits of vacations, especially at luxury all-inclusive resorts for couples seeking reconnection.

Ribosomal Dysfunction Is a Common Pathomechanism in Different Forms of Trichothiodystrophy

15 Jan 2023  |  mdpi.com
The article discusses Trichothiodystrophy (TTD), a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a range of symptoms including mental retardation, brittle hair, skin conditions, and a lack of cancer despite being related to Xeroderma pigmentosum, a cancer-prone disease. The article explores the hypothesis that TTD is caused by a common cellular pathomechanism related to disturbances in ribosomal biogenesis and function. The study investigates the effects of mutations in the TTDN1 and RNF113A genes on cellular ribosomal biogenesis and function. It was found that these mutations lead to a loss of proteostasis by the ribosome, with a reduction in the central RNA polymerase I transcription factor UBF and disturbances in pre-rRNA processing. The article suggests that these findings could point to a common underlying pathomechanism for TTD and potentially for other neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases.
