Topsoe to provide tech for SAF plant in China

Topsoe has signed an agreement with Guangxi Hongkun Biomass to provide its HydroFlex™ technology for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at a new plant in the Qinzhou Port Area Free Trade Pilot Zone of Guangxi, China. The plant, expected to process 300,000 tons of feedstock annually, will begin construction in May 2024 and start SAF production by early 2026. Guangxi Hongkun Biomass, a subsidiary of Guangxi Hongkun Energy Group, is a significant player in China's SAF production, with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan.

Spain's Camper joins DHL GoGreen Plus SAF program

DHL Express Spain has onboarded Spanish footwear company Camper to its GoGreen Plus program, aiming to reduce carbon emissions from international air shipments by 30% in 2024. The collaboration, part of a long-standing partnership, focuses on sustainability through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). DHL Express launched the GoGreen Plus program in early 2023, securing significant SAF supplies from bp, Neste, and World Energy to support its decarbonization efforts.

Repsol to prioritise RD over SAF at Cartagena until EU mandate

Repsol will prioritize renewable diesel (RD) production over sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its new Cartagena biofuels site in Spain until the EU mandate in 2025. CEO Josu Jon Imaz highlighted the current higher market demand for renewable diesel and the plant's flexibility to adjust production between RD and SAF. The Cartagena site, which began operations in April 2024, is the first on the Iberian Peninsula dedicated to 100% renewable fuels, with a capacity of 250,000 tons per year and an investment of €250m. Repsol's Q1 2024 adjusted income was €1.2bn, down €624m from the same period in 2023.
