Residential Segregation and Social Housing: A Critical Reflection on Los Palmerales de Elche
The Master's thesis critically examines the persistent issue of residential segregation and social housing in Spanish cities, with a focus on Elche. It highlights how public housing is often located far from city centers, increasing social inequality and marginalizing residents. The research also addresses broader housing issues in Spain, such as evictions, real estate speculation, and the Covid-19 crisis. The thesis concludes with two artistic proposals that aim to raise social awareness and denounce ongoing inequality.
Classification system for nanotechnology-enabled health products with both scientific and regulatory application
Nanomedicine, a promising field of the 21st century, faces a significant gap between research and market-ready products. Despite a substantial increase in scientific publications and patents, few nanotechnology-enabled health products (NHPs) reach regulatory approval. The article highlights the need for harmonized regulatory definitions and classification systems to bridge this gap. It proposes a novel classification system for NHPs based on primary mode of action, chemical composition, medical purpose, and nanomanufacturing approach. This system aims to facilitate regulatory approval and foster NHP development by linking technologies with applicable guidelines.
Multiple clinical risks for cannabis users during the COVID-19 pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated mental health issues and increased the risks associated with psychoactive substance use, including cannabis. Cannabis users face heightened risks of respiratory and cardiovascular complications, as well as psychiatric disorders. The concurrent use of tobacco and cannabis further elevates these risks. Despite some studies suggesting potential benefits of cannabinoids in treating COVID-19, the overall recommendation is to reduce non-medical cannabis use during the pandemic. Preventive and therapeutic strategies are essential to address the clinical and psychiatric vulnerabilities of this population.
