06 Jun 2023  |  liputan6.com
The Jambi Regional Police officially halted the case against a junior high school student, SFA, who was reported by the City of Jambi under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE) for criticizing the mayor. The case was stopped following the City of Jambi's withdrawal of their report, mediated by the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jambi Police, Christian Tory, through restorative justice. SFA had apologized for her remarks in a video on social media but maintained that the data she presented was accurate. Despite the resolution, SFA intends to continue advocating for her grandmother and great-grandmother, whose house was damaged by an over-tonnage company vehicle. The initial report was made after SFA created a video protesting the company's activities that damaged her grandmother's house, which went viral and received attention from Mahfud MD, leading to the withdrawal of the report by the City of Jambi.

Intangible Cultural Heritage Certificates Should Not Just Be for Show

04 Jan 2023  |  liputan6.com

Muarajambi Cultural Heritage Powerless Surrounded by Coal

11 Sep 2021  |  www.liputan6.com
The Muarajambi Cultural Heritage area, a site of ancient Buddhist education and civilization, is under threat from the surrounding coal industry. Despite its status as a National Cultural Heritage site, the area is endangered by coal stockpiles and industrial activities. Activists and cultural preservers express concerns about the damage to the site and the potential health risks to local residents from coal dust. The local government's inaction and the presence of industries that predate the heritage designation complicate efforts to protect the site. The situation also poses a risk to the area's potential recognition by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
