HWEE HWEE TAN is a freelance journalist based in Singapore. She has a First Class Honours degree in English Literature from the University of East Anglia (UK), a Masters in English from the University of Oxford and a MFA in Creative Writing from New York University. She has worked as a staff writer for Adweek in New York and the Business Times in Singapore. As a freelance writer, she has contributed to publications like TIME magazine, the BBC, the Straits Times, Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, TODAY, Her World and luxury magazine Prestige. Her work has won awards with the BBC and the New York Times. She is also an accomplished novelist, having published two books with Penguin UK, one of which won the Singapore Literature Prize, the highest literary prize given to fiction writers.
