Journalists Idrak Jamalbeyli and Seymur Shikhaliyev from VOA’s Azerbaijani Service were injured by shrapnel when a booby trap exploded in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. They were reporting from trenches previously occupied by Russian soldiers when the incident occurred. Jamalbeyli received shrapnel wounds to his leg, and Shikhaliyev was hit in the arm. Both journalists are recovering and did not suffer serious injuries. A Ukrainian volunteer accompanying them also sustained minor facial injuries.
