Jalaluddin Mughal

I am an investigative journalist, digital storyteller, and media consultant based in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir / Islamabad, Pakistan, with over a decade of experience in journalism, media strategy, and documentary production. With advanced degrees in Mass Communication and Political Science from Pakistan and a professional certificate in Digital Media from the United States, I bring a strong academic foundation to my work in digital and investigative media.

As an independent journalist and researcher, I specialize in underreported stories from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and other conflict-sensitive regions. My investigative work explores the socio-political and humanitarian impact of the Kashmir conflict, with published pieces in leading international and regional outlets such as The New York Times, Voice of America (VOA), The Independent, DAWN, and others.

Over the past five years, I have written and directed several short documentaries and digital stories focusing on human rights, governance, social justice, and political narratives. My productions have been commissioned and supported by major institutions including the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy Islamabad, USAID, Conciliation Resources, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Driven by a passion for storytelling, I work seamlessly in high-pressure environments—both independently and as part of collaborative teams. My goal is to give voice to marginalized communities and bring global attention to the lived experiences of people in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
