The article discusses the collaboration between the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) to improve water supply at the Chikurubi Prison Complex in Zimbabwe. The ICRC donated a water tank in 2009 and helped drill boreholes, while ZPCS constructed pump houses and laid pipes. The project, which began in 2012, was completed in 2015 and now provides water for drinking and personal hygiene to inmates, prison officers, and their families, benefiting over 10,000 people. Despite the progress, issues such as power cuts can still disrupt the water supply. Inmates expressed gratitude for the improved access to water, which has significantly improved their daily lives.
