The article is a critical examination of the indigenisation movement in Zimbabwe, questioning the effectiveness and integrity of the Affirmative Action Group (AAG) and its impact on the country's economy. The author reflects on the history of the black empowerment lobby, which was intended to address economic disparities but has been marred by questionable actions and associations with controversial figures. The piece argues that the AAG has failed to deliver on its promises and has been involved in practices such as property grabbing and asset stripping. The author suggests that for genuine economic empowerment to occur, there needs to be a shift from antagonistic approaches to building bridges with established businesses, focusing on integrity, capacity building, and a spirit of entrepreneurship. The article concludes by urging the indigenisation lobby to move away from a language of grievance and entitlement and to work towards genuine empowerment that leads to economic prosperity.

AMH, an independent media organization in Zimbabwe, operates without political affiliations or external influences. It publishes four newspapers, each with its own online edition. The Zimbabwe Independent is a business weekly available every Friday, The Standard is a weekly publication released every Sunday, and Southern and NewsDay are daily newspapers. The focus of these publications is to provide news and information across various categories, maintaining independence in their reporting.

I have a running weekly column in The Chronicle newspaper and platform. The Chronicle is a popular daily newspaper in Zimbabwe. It is published in Bulawayo and mostly reports on news in the Matebeleland region in the southern part of the country. It is owned by the Zimpapers media stable. This column has been running since 2014.

I have been running a column in Public Relations in The Standard since 2016. I have over twenty years of experience in the profession as well as being a journalist and writer. I have another column running in The Chronicle newspaper and online platform.
