Navigating Between Two Worlds
Alejandro Haddad, an Argentine journalist of Syrian-Lebanese descent, was passionate about Turkey and its complexities. Despite battling a severe illness, he, along with Nicolás Valentini, created 'Pañuelos para la Historia', a documentary featuring Nora Cortiñas of Madres de Plaza de Mayo-Línea Fundadora visiting the mothers of Kurds killed or disappeared by the Turkish state. The film captures their journey to Istanbul, Diyarbakir, and Ankara, where they delivered a letter to the Turkish government and the UN, seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict that has claimed over 35,000 lives in thirty years. Haddad's commitment to justice transcended language, religion, and borders, and he worked to raise awareness of the Kurdish cause in Argentina. Haddad has now lost his battle with his illness, leaving behind a legacy as a journalist, poet, and advocate for universal justice.
