Maria Elena Spagnolo is a  journalist based in Torino, Italy. She has been registered in the Italian National Association of Journalists since 2009.  From 2010 to 2016 she published articles for La Repubblica, the daily Italian national newspaper. Since 2016 she has been writing articles as a freelance journalist for the Chinese news agency Xinhua and for the Italian daily La Stampa (in English, on Italian and international news).

From 2013 to 2015 she worked at the Foreign Desk of the news agency LaPresse.

In 2016 she made a reportage for the tv programme Vox Pop (ARTE) from Italy. She also worked as a fixer for the French television France 24: she contributed to the preparation of some reportages and helped journalists on the ground, in Italy.
