Marko Makat is a South Sudanese-Canadian multimedia and broadcast journalist based in Calgary, Canada. Makat is also a freelance broadcaster and digital reporter who established Twic Media Reports, one of the most followed digital media on social media in South Sudan with over 180k followers.

Born and raised in Twic County, Warrap State in Bahr el Ghazal region, South Sudan, Makat has experience working in the industry and is well-versed in the current media trends in South Sudan and Canada.

Makat pursued a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Juba. He also has a diploma in radio, television, and broadcast news, majoring in broadcast news at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). He also attained a certificate at the Yei Educational Professional Skills Center in Journalism and Radio Presentation.

Makat is also trained in accountability reporting, digital security, fact-checking and verification, information ethics, and media information literacy.

As a broadcast journalist and digital reporter, he is in charge of identifying and developing news, editing, compiling reports, managing social media pages, and anchoring news. He works continuously with the editorial teams tasked to generate and build news stories.
