ISODEC, GFI train investigative Journalists on Illicit Financial Flows
The Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) and Global Financial Integrity (GFI) organized a training workshop for investigative journalists from Ghana and other West African countries on Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs). The workshop aimed to equip journalists with skills and techniques to expose IFFs, emphasizing the importance of integrity in journalism. Key speakers included Mrs. Charlotte Kpogli-Dzadey from ISODEC and Mr. Maxwell Kpebesaan Kuu-ire from GFI, who highlighted the detrimental impact of IFFs on Africa's economy and the crucial role of journalists in uncovering the truth. The event was facilitated by Ms. Adubea Jennifer Hall and Mr. Emmanuel Dogbevi, with participants expressing appreciation and calling for more such initiatives.
Pressure mounts on gov't to ratify Marrakesh Treaty
The Ghana Blind Union and the Association of Persons with Albinism are urging the Ghanaian government to ratify the Marrakesh Treaty, which facilitates access to published works for the blind and visually impaired. Despite cabinet approval in December, the treaty has yet to be ratified, causing frustration among disability advocates.
