British charity worker serving 20 years for 'abusing children at Albanian orphanage' set to be freed after accusers admit they LIED

01 Oct 2023  |  The Mirror
David Brown, a British charity worker, has served 11 years of a 20-year sentence in Albania for child abuse, but his accusers have now admitted they lied under pressure from police and a psychologist. The accusers, now adults, are prepared to retract their statements in court, which could lead to Brown's release. Brown, who has always maintained his innocence, plans to continue his charitable work in Albania upon release. His lawyer, Gjystina Golloshi, argues that without the false accusations, there is no case against Brown. The Albanian High Court is set to hear the new testimonies, which could pave the way for his freedom.

Accusers banned from giving evidence that could free Scot jailed for 20 years in Albania for child abuse

20 Mar 2017  |  www.dailyrecord.co.uk
A court in Albania has blocked testimony from two men that could exonerate David Brown, a Scot sentenced to 20 years for child abuse. The men, who were former residents of the orphanage Brown ran, admitted they were coerced into lying by the police and a psychologist. Despite their willingness to provide new evidence, the Tirana Crimes Court rejected their testimony. Brown's lawyer and the men themselves expressed frustration and disappointment over the court's decision. Brown's former colleagues, Dino Christodoulou and Robin Arnold, were also convicted of child abuse and received lengthy prison sentences.
