Nestor Corrales is a multimedia journalist based in Manila, Philippines with over a decade of experience writing breaking news, in-depth stories, and producing multimedia content for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. He covered politics, defense, security, geopolitics, foreign affairs, and the South China Sea issue for the Philippines’ leading and award-winning broadsheet. He was previously assigned to cover the presidential palace beat under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and then president Rodrigo Duterte and also covered numerous election campaigns and presidential trips abroad. He was a 2015 fellow of the Washington-based International Center for Journalists and completed a data journalism program with the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism and the Open Knowledge Foundation in the same year. In 2018, he was awarded best male print journalist at the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards. In 2019, he was among 23 journalists from across the globe who completed a two-week War Correspondent Training in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey. In August 2024, he was among the Filipino journalists onboard a Philippine vessel that was rammed and attacked by Chinese ships in the South China Sea. In December 2024, he joined a reporting tour in Washington D.C. and New York under the Media Programme Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
