How is the rate of increase in housing and rent prices in Turkey decreasing?

03 May 2024  |  d33vxfhewnqf4z.cloudfront.net
The rate of increase in housing and rent prices in Turkey is slowing down, influenced by rising credit and deposit interest rates and a decrease in property sales to foreigners. Data from Bahçeşehir University indicates a nine-month decline in real estate prices, with a significant annual decrease. Rent prices, while still increasing, show a reduced growth rate. The Turkish Statistical Institute reports a slight decline in property sales. Key factors include increased interest rates, which have made housing loans less accessible, and a shift in investment from real estate to deposits. Additionally, government restrictions on property sales to foreigners have impacted the market, particularly in coastal areas like Mersin, where foreign demand had previously driven up prices.
