Motema Pembe wins the Congo Cup in a shameful final
Daring Club Motema Pembe of Kinshasa won the 56th edition of the Congo Cup of football with a 1-0 victory over Sanga Balende from Mbuji Mayi at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa, securing a spot in the next Confederation Cup. The match, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations, was marred by fan violence and a three-hour delay. Despite initial refusal, Sanga Balende agreed to resume the remaining 27 minutes after persuasion for the sake of Congolese football's image. Motema Pembe scored the only goal in the 86th minute through Dezy Mbomba and held the lead until the final whistle, marking a significant achievement for coach Alain Landeut, who joined the club on May 2.
