About Paul
Paul Arnaud DEGUENON - Journalist, Director, and Filmmaker based in Cotonou, Benin.

With a rich and diverse career in the media and communication field, I have established myself as an influential figure in the audiovisual industry across Africa. My professional journey began at ORTB, the public service channel of Benin, where I honed my skills in infographics, before joining SIKKA TV, a French continuous news media. These experiences allowed me to develop a solid expertise in content production, project management, and television direction.

Currently, as the director of BENIN WEB TV, the leading web media in Benin, I lead a team dedicated to producing credible news and cutting-edge audiovisual content. My passion for journalism and filmmaking has also led me to serve as a consultant and project manager for audiovisual infrastructure projects, successfully leading several major projects in Benin, Cameroon, Togo, and Niger.

I offer a range of professional services, from writing and photography to video editing and television installations, supported by a creative approach and a deep understanding of modern media needs. My commitment to excellence and my ability to lead complex projects make me a preferred partner for any entity looking to maximize its media impact.

I am looking for new collaboration opportunities to bring my expertise in journalism, filmmaking, and audiovisual project management to a wider audience. Contact me to discuss how we can work together to create engaging and meaningful content.

Election Postponement in Senegal: Opposition Stands Firm, ECOWAS Confused, France Cautious

04 Feb 2024  |  Benin Web TV
Senegalese President Macky Sall has indefinitely postponed the presidential election scheduled for February 25, 2024, citing a parliamentary investigation into two Constitutional Council judges accused of corruption. The opposition and civil society actors have criticized the decision, with some calling it a 'constitutional coup.' The Task Force républicaine and the Parti démocratique sénégalais (PDS) support the postponement, while international reactions include concern from ECOWAS, France, the EU, and the US, all urging for a swift resolution and a transparent election process.

Withdrawal of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger from ECOWAS: What are the implications?

29 Jan 2024  |  Benin Web TV
Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, led by military juntas, have withdrawn from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as of January 28, citing the need to meet the expectations and aspirations of their populations. This move is seen as a defiance against ECOWAS, which has been promoting democracy and rule of law in response to coups. The withdrawal could have significant economic impacts, affecting intra-regional trade, movement of people and goods, infrastructure projects, and the introduction of a West African currency. Security-wise, it may hinder regional coordination against threats like terrorism. Socially, it could strain cultural and historical ties and exacerbate humanitarian challenges. The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) emphasizes national sovereignty and could justify the withdrawal, but it faces its own challenges in coordination and human rights. The situation calls for careful evolution and potential negotiations to avoid a complete break with ECOWAS.
