Former President Barack Obama revisited his childhood school in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was educated from 1969 to 1971. The visit was marked by a tight security presence, with both Indonesian police and Obama's private escort. The school, which retains its architectural style from the Dutch colonial era, was closed to the public and media during Obama's visit, with onlookers only able to catch a glimpse of the former president as he waved to them. The school is currently on holiday for Idul Fitri. Obama's connection to Indonesia is deep-rooted, as his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, an anthropologist, had remarried an Indonesian man and conducted research in the country.
