Impunity for killing civilians? U.S. sanctions those responsible for the attack on the hospital in Kunduz
Over a dozen U.S. military personnel have received disciplinary sanctions for an airstrike by the U.S. Air Force against a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, where 42 people died. The sanctions are mostly administrative, and no criminal charges have been filed. The hospital, which housed about 200 people, was partially destroyed on October 3, 2015. MSF condemned the attack as 'ruthless and brutal' and demanded an international investigation, which has not occurred. Pedro González Munné, director of 'La Nación Cubana,' criticized the administrative measures as insufficient for the gravity of the crime.
The U.S. is naive in trying to impose democracy in the Middle East
CIA chief John Brennan's statements mark a departure from the traditional U.S. stance on the Arab Spring revolutions. Pedro González Munné, director of the newspaper La Nación Cubana, believes the U.S. is beginning to understand its naive attempts to impose American-style democracy in the Middle East without considering the region's history.
