Dilma Rousseff promises to be 'a much better President'
The article discusses the outcome of the Brazilian presidential election, highlighting the re-election of Dilma Rousseff. Rousseff, who won 51.4% of the vote against the Social Democratic Party's 48.5%, has promised to increase the social assistance program 'Bolsa Familia' by 10% in May. The program currently benefits 36 million Brazilians. The election results showed a geographical and social divide, with the richer southern regions supporting her opponent Aesiu Neves, who is seen as more business-friendly, while the poorer north and northeast supported Rousseff. Despite winning a second term, Rousseff faces challenges such as inflation, slow economic growth, and a declining GDP, which fell by 0.6% from March to June.
