Kidnapped 100m from our home, my husband reappears 570 km away in an Azerbaijani prison
Afgan Mukhtarli, an Azerbaijani journalist, was kidnapped near his home in Tbilisi, Georgia, and later found detained in Azerbaijan on charges of smuggling, disobedience, and illegal border crossing. His wife Leyla Mustafa and lawyer Eltchin Sadygov suggest the involvement of Georgian police in the kidnapping. Mukhtarli had fled Azerbaijan in 2015 due to repression and had been working with investigative journalism outlets. The Georgian government denies involvement, while an Azerbaijani MP claims cooperation between the governments. Human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have condemned the Azerbaijani government's record on human rights and are urging the Georgian government to investigate the incident and protect journalists on its soil.
Music: Smooth Sailing for Klone
Klone, a 'progressive aerial rock' band formed in high school, has evolved from a more metal sound to a softer rock style. They created Klonosphere, an association to organize concerts and help young bands. With six records released, Klone has toured Europe and is set to play in Australia, with 35 more dates planned in Europe. Their new album 'Here Comes the Sun' was released on April 6 by Verycords, showcasing the singer's voice with emotional and nostalgic music. They will perform at La Belle Rouge on April 24. The band financed their work through pre-sales of CDs, allowing them autonomy. Klone also shared their musical inspirations, including King Crimson and The Beatles.
