Timothy Wolfer is a journalist and filmmaker. For over a decade he has been working on stories of humanitarian aid and migration. His work has taken him to 40+ countries; places like South Sudan to tell stories of the conflict, Bangladesh to cover stories of the Rohingya fleeing Myanmar, Cuba as the country first opened to U.S. humanitarian assistance, and Haiti days after the 2010 earthquake. His latest film, The Right Girls, follows a group of transgender women headed to the U.S. Border with the 2018 Large Migrant Caravan. This film was distributed on Amazon, iTunes and Google Play. He has also produced numerous short docs for PBS stations, winning him a regional Emmy. Wolfer was also present on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th filming as a mob breached the building and his footage was featured by the New York Times. Most recently, Wolfer was in Mariupol, Ukraine for the start of the Russian invasion. He was one of the last international journalists to leave Mariupol and published his work with NPR, putting out 21 reported videos on the war through their channels.

Produced and Directed Adopting Haiti. The Filmi looks at CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and Anderson Cooper and the influence they had on the U.S. State Department in the evacuation of 135 orphans in the wake of the catastrophic 2010 earthquake. The Wolfer Productions team hitchhiked in days after the earthquake with only the necessary supplies they could carry. This documentary was featured on Hulu.com for the one-year tribute to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Produced and Directed a documentary called The Right Girls. The documentary follows three young transgender women who trek across Mexico as part of the high-profile migrant caravan of 2018. Teaming up in southern Mexico with the goal of reaching the U.S. border, the girls find themselves hitching rides and jumping trucks, anything to complete the long journey north. Their LGBTQ status continues to make them targets. Adding to their struggle to find food is the constant challenge to stay safe.

On Jan 6, 2021 I was working for the New York Times as rioters overtook the U.S. Capitol. I spent the day filming from the steps. The footage appeared on the head of the NTY website for the following week and was used in several other projects they produced. NYT description: Our cameras captured the mayhem, confusion and chaos outside the Capitol as Trump supporters entered and disrupted certification of the Electoral College results.

Worked as a Producer and cinematographer to produce a news piece on the workers affected by the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse. More Perfect Union description: Thousands of workers are still out of work weeks after the Baltimore bridge collapsed. Mainstream news is focusing on how the tragedy will affect the supply chain and the stock market. We went to Baltimore to see how it’s affecting port workers and their families.

In this thrilling and emotional documentary, CNBC follows life after fire victim Jenna Johnson narrowly escaped California's deadliest and most destructive fire, the Camp Fire.
Filmed and Conducted Interviews on the U.S.S. Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier for Business Insider. Video looked at cost overruns of new technology. Business Insider description: The USS Ford is the most advanced aircraft carrier the US has ever built. The tally for the total cost is $13.3 billion, nearly 30% more than initial estimates. However, more costs are expected. The Navy accepted the Ford in 2017 without some of its newest technologies operating, and the ship still won’t be completely ready for battle until 2022.
