What are Arsenal's chances of overtaking Manchester City for the title in England?

04 Dec 2022  |  fakti.bg
Arsenal currently leads the English Premier League with 34 points after 13 games, historically a strong indicator of a potential title win. Despite trailing by two points, Manchester City remains the main title contender. The article references a historical precedent from the 2015/16 season when Leicester City won against the odds. It discusses the importance of statistics in modern football, noting Arsenal's strong start under Mikel Arteta and their improved performance in derbies this season. The direct clash between Arsenal and Manchester City is yet to be scheduled, which could be decisive for the title race. The article suggests that while Manchester City has a stronger squad on paper, football's unpredictability, such as key player injuries, could influence the outcome.

Why Vettel earns more money than Hamilton in Formula 1?

03 Aug 2021  |  Gol
Lewis Hamilton, despite being one of the dominant figures in Formula 1 over the past five years, has earned less from the prize fund than Sebastian Vettel. The distribution of the $913 million prize fund, which represents 47.5% of F1's profit for the year, is based on a complex algorithm. Half of the sum is divided proportionally among all teams based on their final ranking, while the other half is equally distributed among teams finishing in the top ten in two of the last three years. An additional 7.5% of F1's total profit is allocated among the top three teams according to the number of races won. Ferrari, as the oldest team in F1, receives an annual bonus of 5% of all tournament profits, amounting to no less than $62.2 million, regardless of the team's results. Pilot earnings are determined by the percentage of points they contribute to the team's total, with higher points earners receiving a larger share of the compensation.

Salaries are 341 BGN lower than the needs of Bulgarians

03 Aug 2021  |  Bloomberg
The beginning of 2019 sees an increase in the cost of living for working Bulgarians, but higher incomes are closing the gap compared to the previous quarter, according to the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bulgaria's quarterly report, which includes data from the National Statistical Institute. A four-member family needs a gross income of 2,442 BGN to cover monthly expenses, while the average salary per family member is only 880.74 BGN, a 28% shortfall (1,221 BGN). The poverty line in Bulgaria is at 348 BGN, with 27.9% of Bulgarians managing on similar funds. Bulgaria remains at the bottom of EU countries in most indicators except for the annual wage growth rate from 2010-2019, where it ranks just behind Romania. The average Bulgarian earns 1.62 EUR/hour, compared to 11.55 EUR/hour in Luxembourg. Sofia's workers earn about 30% higher wages than the rest of the country. The highest salaries are in the IT sector, while the lowest are in leather processing, furniture, security, and social work. The minimum wage has increased to 560 BGN, a 9.8% rise since January 2018, with 19.3% of the working population earning this wage, mostly in the manufacturing industry. Northwestern regions lag significantly behind Sofia and other major cities in terms of labor remuneration.

Финансовата страна на спорта и половото равенство

03 Aug 2021  |  Investor.bg
The article by Desislav Yankulov, an editor at Bloomberg TV Bulgaria, discusses the financial aspects of sports, particularly in relation to gender equality and viewership. It references the efforts of Venus Williams in achieving equal prize money in Grand Slam tennis tournaments and compares the viewership numbers of men's and women's sports events, highlighting the disparity. The article also touches upon the number of matches played by athletes in different sports and the financial rewards associated with them. It concludes by arguing that the principles of communism, as proposed by Marx and Engels, are not applicable in the world of sports, where financial rewards are determined by viewership and market forces rather than equal distribution based on need or effort.

How for a single Japanese soldier World War II ended in 1974

20 Jun 2017  |  Magnifisonz
Hiroo Onoda, a Japanese intelligence officer in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II, did not surrender after Japan's capitulation in 1945 and remained hidden in the Philippines until 1974. After 29 years on Lubang Island, his former commander traveled from Japan to officially relieve him of duty. Onoda's unwavering dedication to his orders, despite leaflets and other indications that the war had ended, led to a life in hiding until traveler Norio Suzuki found him and convinced him that the war was over. Onoda's superior, Major Yoshimi Taniguchi, who had since become a bookseller, was located and formally ordered Onoda to surrender, which he did on December 18, 1974, turning in his functioning Arisaka Type 99 rifle, ammunition, a sword, and several grenades. Onoda passed away in 2014 at the age of 91, and was honored by Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga as an example of dedication for all soldiers.
