I have built a career within the development field and found my passion in translating and writing of others who are often left out in society. My career has spanned from India, Cambodia, Australia, and Malaysia, and currently, I am focusing on building my portfolio in translation and writing on current issues. I am currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Current Work: Supporting the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Malaysia with the SDG Voluntary National Review 2021 with content, editorial, and internal translation of SDG references from English to Bahasa Malaysia. Preparing speeches for the Minister of Economics for current events Prepared press release, media statements, and video script for Malaysia’s SDG VNR 2021. Translation of Financial literacy for chool children from low-income groups with neOOne Associates Translation of documents and conference coordination for IMAN Research Learning & Development Experience: Translation work for refugee and undocumented children NGOs, in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah. Translated a series of children folklore stories from Bahasa Malaysia to English for UNICEF Malaysia, distributed to selected schools in Peninsular Malaysia by the Ministry of Education. Supported an association in Sabah (KAMI) to translate a series of children stories for distribution among the undocumented and stateless children. Assisted the Economic Planning Unit and UNDP in translating training materials from English to Bahasa Malaysia for fieldwork and pilot projects. Provided translation work for UNRWA’s #DignityisPriceless campaign. Article on the burden of unpaid care work among women in 2018, published in Malaysiakini.com. Prepared speeches, media statements, editorial pieces for UNDP Malaysia.
This was an opinion piece written on the burden of unpaid carework among women, particularly in Malaysia. Based on a research by the World Bank, women over the age of 26 often found themselves caught in the cycle of double burden of unpaid care.
