Edmund Page, a UK graduate teacher, founded Xavier Project in Kibera, Kenya, to address the educational needs of refugees who, despite free primary education, could not afford school levies. Xavier Project, which has offices in Kenya and Uganda, provides educational programs and has partnered with the UN High Commission for Refugees. The charity also funds education for refugee children from various countries and trains local teachers. Liliane Ingabire, a Rwandan refugee and beneficiary, aspires to become a software engineer. Xavier Project uses the Eneza Kenya platform to facilitate learning through mobile messages and plans to launch an Eneza pilot program at Dadaab refugee camp. The UNHCR's Education Strategy aims to increase quality education for refugees, and Xavier Project's initiatives are helping to reintegrate children affected by armed conflicts back into education.
